Barnsley 10km

A lovely autumn crisp day, quite cold to start with. The run was on the outskirts of Barnsley on country roads. A little narrow through the village at first and then people spread out. It was mostly flat for the first 4 miles as I tried to keep up with the club runners.

Markers were in miles which was unusual. After 4 miles reality hit as the runners were faced with 2 miles up hill. The last mile was very painful but the finish in sight meant a sprint end until the field was reached.

A race is a work of art that people can look at and be affected in as many ways as they’re capable of understanding – Steve Prefontaine

The last 100m was muddy and hard so many runners including myself ended up walking over the chip line. A great run, most enjoyable and challenging.

Chip Time: 45.21
