Bupa Great Yorkshire Run

This was the second “Great Yorkshire Run” in Sheffield. A change of course this year to a much flatter route, going out towards the Sheffield Wednesday ground and back again.

In true Sheffield style a warning about the tram lines were given as the beginning of the race forced runners to dodge over them, we didn’t have to dodge the trams however. The first 1km was mostly downhill but knowing we had to come back up the hill towards the end I saved some of my reserves.

The 5km mark was round the football ground, a little odd, and the bands were a little sparse although water was available. At the 6.5km mark I stupidly decided to go under the shower and my body went into shock so I slowed down somewhat for the forthcoming 2km.

Being a local I knew the hills were plentiful during the last 1km, and successfully managed to run all the way up towards the finish line unlike some. Greeting me at the finish line was my gorgeous little Neice, who took place with my medal.

A great run and a really good route.
