Race for Life 10km

A gorgeous setting for this undulating run around the grounds of Kedleston Hall near Derby. A very narrow start meant it was difficult to get a good pace at the start. A very tough hill around the 3km mark on grass, though I managed to overtake a few people going up the hill. At the 5km mark I took on water and got a burst of energy. Through woods slightly downhill for a couple of km enabled me to get my breath back and find out I was the 2nd female. I must keep it up!

At around 8km another hill (complete with sheep) although again I ran all the way up overtaking some of the bigger stroppier male runners. The last 1km was downhill which was a blessing as I still remained in 2nd place and a massive sprint to the finish line ensured I remained the 2nd female. A very pretty run, although my legs were still very heavy from the Great North Run the week before.
